A façade is actually what we use to denote the face of a building. Facades have many uses, the most important being that of providing extra protection to the people inside the building. Other than that, they are meant to resist lateral and vertical forces imposed upon them by the action of external factors such as heavy winds. They also need to provide a layer of insulation, while acting as a separation between the outside and inside environments.

Perhaps the most conventional façade is a solid brick wall or similar stone wall. Further, they are made of natural materials and are not difficult to erect, making them suitable choices for many building applications
Opting for a heavy duty curtain wall also seems to be a pretty popular choice, mainly in the construction of high-rise buildings such as tall skyscrapers and office complexes. Made of lightweight panels and frames fitted with glass, curtain walls do not place a huge burden on the main building structure. They are also quite inexpensive to manufacture on a large scale, which is why getting a good supply of them is never a big problem. Providing excellent all-round weather protection while still allowing a good amount of natural lighting, they are the preferred choice for a building situated in urban areas as they also provide a high amount of sound insulation.
Besides more common solutions, facades making use of light steel infills have become much more common in the recent decade or so, mainly due to the development of modern methods to produce high-quality examples. Steel is known to be quite durable and sturdy enough to resist even the harshest of conditions. Providing even better protection than a steel infills are easy to install, the process being quite a rapid one when compared to installing other façade solutions.
Day by day, there are more building façade solutions being implemented. Although it can take quite a while to have new solutions performing up to standard, it is always a good idea to keep an eye on the market to see whether you can get anything new that is better than what is being currently offered by major construction companies.
